A couple of months ago I had the great pleasure of photographing Courtney for a Senior Portrait Session.  Courtney, as I am sure you remember, is absolutely stunning, and I am still completely in love with the images from her session.  One of the things I really wanted to do with her, something I have wanted to do for a while during a senior photo session, is get in the water.

Trash the Dress sessions are rising in popularity for brides and have always been a creative and  striking choice for fashion photography.  I am so pleased that more and more brides are opting for this kind of thing; that many brides are no longer packing away their perfectly preserved wedding dresses for an unknown future, and instead using them to their fullest potential and having some fun.

So a while back I thought it would be totally fun to do a senior session in the water! Courtney was very excited about the idea, but we ran out of time at our first session and so I asked her if she’d be willing to do the water portion on a different day. It took us a while to get our schedules coordinated (and for it to warm up a bit) but we finally got together last weekend for the most amazingly fun shoot I have had in quite a while!

This is just a sneak peek at a few of my favorites. This first shot is toward the end of the session. Courtney had been completely soaked by that point and her normally straightened hair had curled up to beautiful waves. I wanted her to look sort of ship-wrecked on these smooth rocks.

One of the really fun things about these, I think, is that at the last minute the day of the shoot, I dug deep into my closet and pulled out all of my old performance gowns I had stored there (in a past life I was a vocal performance major in college).  Courtney is actually wearing one of my favorite gowns – it brings me great joy to see it being worn again, even if she is rolling around in the creek! lol!

This next one is definitely a favorite of mine. I just love how wild and thick her hair looks!  Soooo beautiful!!Thanks again Courtney! I can’t wait to show you the rest of the images!
